Trip Description

Our primary focus will be to pair up for multi-pitch climbing.  Those who decide not to will need to self-organize into a group for single-pitch routes in the bluffs.  Let me know in advance if you think you may prefer single-pitch climbing.  My suggestion is that climbers either sign up in pairs or only commit to doing multi-pitch climbing if they can pair up with someone they know on the trip participant list.  I prefer to leave it to each participant to pair up with a good climbing partner.  You can use the Trip Forum to ask the Confirmed participants questions.  Everyone deciding to multi-pitch should have trad-leading, gear-seconding and lead-belaying experience. Also, good station building and rope management skills are very important.  If in doubt, please contact me to discuss it.

All participants must bring their own climbing gear, i.e. harness, belay device, locking biner, personal anchor tether, climbing shoes and helmet. Also, highly recommended is a prussic for rappelling, lunch, water, and snacks. Ropes & anchor material for this event are provided by the participants, as well as an appropriate lead rack, slings and QDs for multi-pitching.

While the more experienced climbers are usually happy to share their knowledge, this is not a climbing course.

We will *leave* the church parking lot at 8:00 AM... please arrive 10 minutes early.  St David's Church is located near Hwy 1 and Taylor Way in West Vancouver.  I expect we'll return to the church before 4 pm to miss the after-work traffic... let me know at the meetup place if you wish to return earlier.

Cancellation due to weather: - I will check a few online weather forecast sites 24hrs before the meetup time. If the "common" forecast of probability for precipitation in the Squamish area is 40% or more then the trip will be cancelled.  You can expect an email notifying you of the cancellation... but if in doubt you can email the organizer.
