Trip logistics will involve shuttling vehicles to either end of traverse (Diamond Head parking lot and Garibaldi Lake trailhead).

ALL participants MUST have the following skills, experience and equipment:

• previous winter camping experience
• glacier travel and crevasse rescue skills
• avalanche safety and rescue

Mandatory individual gear:

• AT/tele skis or splitboard
• ski or snowboard boots
• skins
• poles
• avalanche transceiver
• shovel
• probe
• headlamp
• helmet
• harness
• belay/rappel device
• locking carabiners (minimum 3)
• non-locking carabiners (minimum 3)
• pulleys (minimum 1)
• 2 x 5 meter lengths of 7mm accessory climbing cord
• 1 x 1.75 meter length of 7mm accessory climbing cord
• 1 x double shoulder sling (120 cm loop), full strength - sewn or non-sewn
• sleeping pad
• sleeping bag (rated to approx. -15 celsius)
• sun & wind protection: sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses and/or ski goggles
• clothing for several days in the elements, from hot weather to multiple hours of sub-zero weather
• food for 2-3 days
• a pack big enough to carry all of the above (and a bit more)

Consider bringing the following:

• crampons (aluminium are okay)
• basic ice axe
• compass/map/GPS (trip organizer will carry one set)
• first aid kit (trip organizer will have one)
• communications device (trip organizer will carry a SPOT device)
• Avalung and/or airbag pack

Shared group gear (we will organize this in the weeks ahead of the trip):

• tents
• stoves & fuel
• cooking pots
• ropes (8mm or similar)
• snow and ice protection
