A classic mountaineering trip to the summit of the highest mountain in Garibaldi Park via its northeast arete.
Day one - hike up to Wedgemount Lake (1200m elev gain from the parking lot), set camp by the lake, if feeling still energetic -scramble up Mt Weart (another 800m of elevation).
Day two - early start, cross the Wedge glacier, reach the arete, follow it to the summit of Wedge Mtn (900m elev gain from camp). Descent via west ridge and on to the Wedge-Parkhurst Col. Summitting Parhurst Mtn if the group feels burly enough (easy scramble).
Return to camp in the early afternoon, break camp, go home.
Gear required: Ice axe, crampons, helmet, harness, glacier travel gear (prussiks, carabiners)
Glacier travel and some steep snow involved.
Limited to 8 participants. Club members will have priority if trip full.
