This is a ski ascent of Bagpipe Peak, east of Loch Lomond and the Mountain Lake area. Snowshoers are also welcome. Bagpipe is an unofficial name for the peak just east of Loch Lomond. Greg Stotlman and Ramsay Dyer did an overnight trip there a couple of winters ago but I was up Furry Creek road last week and it's only about 8 km from where you can drive to. I think it's a reasonable day trip for this Sunday.
Route: Skiing up Furry Creek to the pass with Seymour River. Then a short distance up Clipper Creek, across the south side of Ben Lomond and over to Loch Lomond. Ascend Bagpipe up its northwest side. The terrain is moderate although there's the potential to ski an interesting gully on Bagpipe off the summit.
This is not a suitable trip for raw beginners. You should have experience with mountain travel on backcountry skis.
The preferred method to contact me is by email. Looking forward to getting a few people together for this trip.
