We meet Friday afternoon at 5:45 at the church, and leave by 6pm. Have something quick to eat at Tim Hortons in Squamish, and drive to the new Whistler Nordic Center. Quickly unload, have a group of drivers take a few cars back to Brandywine, and then return to the Nordic center in one car. Hopefully we can start skinning up a relatively gentle forest service road towards Callaghan Lake by 10pm. Shortly after midnight we set up a camp near the lake, some 8 kms from the trailhead.
Saturday we continue W up the valley, and then turn S onto the glacier NW of Powder Mountain. Sat/Sun night we camp somewhere on the glacier. Sunday we continue towards Mt Cayley, and then E towards Brandywine Mountain. See the attached topo.
Most of Sat and Sun (some 20 kms) we spend on gentle uphill slopes, with an occasional steeper climb. From a col SW of Brandywine Mt we drop down to Brandywine meadows and ski out (13 kms from the col to the cars; practically all downhill).
The whole loop is about 41 kms of touring (no yoyoing) on relatively gentle terrain, B2/3, with Saturday likely the longest day. While not necessarily for total beginners, if you are comfortable doing kick-turns with an overnight pack on a slightly steeper terrain, you should have no difficulties on this trip.
